Covered outdoor patio extension

This large single storey extension with a large covered patio area was designed to connect the brand new kitchen and living space to a beautiful outdoor living and dining area, with a solid roof and glass barriers. This stunning space makes the most of the house and garden, creating a vibrant, bright open space while remaining protected from the weather.

The transformation of this space meant re-purposing rooms to maximise kitchen and dining space. The utility room was relocated.

The kitchen was supplied and fitted by Parkes Interiors, while a small window above the sink lets in a little natural light. The glass sliding patio doors and six electric Velux windows above stream light from the garden, flooding the kitchen with natural daylight.

The floor is finished in a concrete-look ceramic tile, complete with underfloor heating.

This stunning and bold Mourne glass-fronted gas fireplace occupies the opposite side from the kitchen, providing a focal point for family and guests. The ceramic tiles with their marble cement-look add a feel which is both luxurious and industrial, but also homely with the underfloor heating throughout. This comfortable living and cooking area, transitioning to outdoors, is a generous space for living and entertaining.

Six large electric Velux roof windows fill the kitchen with natural light and of course can be opened if desired.

Outside, the brick and mortar construction wraps steel beams, keeping the extension in perfect harmony with the existing house. The patio floor is paved with fine sparkling quartz block and glass balustrades which separate the garden without reducing light or openness.

The roof is clad in white wood and inset with warm white led recessed lighting, adding a warmth and comfort to nighttime use.

RBC also landscaped the lawn and gardens, installing roll-out turf and building raised flowerbeds.

A wrap-around path of flagstones finishes the extension neatly. The client was delighted with all aspects of this project, with all work carried out in a timely manner and – like all of our other projects – finished to an extremely high standard.
